2 / 11 / 2008 -- Shiny, Sparkly
Greetings.

Well, I was a couple days late this time, but I now have the latest version of Kubuntu installed and running at (near-)full functionality. I usually take each semi-annual release as an opportunity to do some much-needed cleaning up of my machine, and every time I marvel at how much more streamlined the process is. This release marks the sixth generation of the OS (and, indeed, Linux as a whole) I have used - I started way back with Ubuntu 5.10, nearly three years ago. It's kind of odd to think of it that way, as it really doesn't seem that long ago...

Eh, oh, well, to the business at hand...

Week V of Phase II is complete! I've made further refinements to the database design, as well as resolving those issues that had made it past the first run of validations last week. This upcoming week is validation of the changes and additions, and then its on to even more design and such after that. I know it seems like this is starting to drag on, but I feel that having an extended period of time to focus on a fairly primitive design cycle will help weed out most of the fundamental issues before it comes time to assemble the system.

In addition to all of the above, I did some clean-up on the audio files I plan to post as the "podcast" on the main page. I wanted to get those up this weekend, but even with the added hour for daylight savings, there's only so many hours in a day...

Mr. Bond, signing off.
