20 / 9 / 2009 -- Collector
Greetings.

To business, straight away. First, the topic I forgot last week - projects and a development process.

Over the course of Project Omega, I've had more than a few other ideas for projects. Some are forgotten and / or soon dismissed; many get shuffled into an "Ideas" collection. Every once in a while, I look through the ideas and develop them further in a surge of creative energies. When they reach critical mass, they get shuffled into a "Future" collection - projects that, somehow, some day, with 99% certainty, will be completed. Last week, I marked two ideas for future status.

Besides ideas and future projects, I also maintain a list of "Legacy" projects. These are projects that were in progress or in any state of planning prior to Project Omega and whose futures are questionable.

Then, of course, there are the "Current" projects - those that are currently under development, a rotating period of up to six months since their last active period. To be perfectly clear, Project Omega is _not_ the only project currently under development. It is the largest, yes, but _not_ the only.

As a quick point of reference, the totals for each category are as follows, as of the writing of this post:
Ideas: 5; Future: 12; Legacy: 10; Current: 5
Also note that some projects beyond the idea collection include some of those ideas in their development.

The relevance here is that there is no shortage of work to be done, now or in the future. Zero Hour Productions will act as the central point for all projects - the process will be adapted and applied to all of them, no matter how large or small.

In accordance with the new Project Omega planning and development process (read: last week), I am setting fairly lofty goals for total weekly and per-Phase development work. The baseline is set at 10 hours per week, with each Phase running up a total of 200 hours. Depending on the anticipated goals (and other non-PO work), I may adjust each week's goal slightly.

Development time starts from when I open up the code editor to when I close it down. This does not include any administrative work, such as news posts, documentation, goal development, et cetera - only the real coding. Suffice to say, I will be very busy with classes, development work, and admin work...but now is the time to do it, and do it well.

Also of note - this coming week will mark the start of INFINITY, a radio show hosted by myself and a good buddy of mine. The show airs live on Fridays, starting at 7:00 PM (CST/CDT), going until whenever. I just finished setting up the equipment over the weekend, but the online stream is not yet active - I will post an addendum to the forums when all is completely settled.

Mr. Bond, signing off.
